Economy in Turkey: Ministry of Commerce targets 120 billion dollars in service exports

The Ministry of Commerce reported that service exports of $ 25.8 billion were realized in the first 4 months, and they aimed to exceed $ 120 billion in total for the year. The Ministry announced that in order to become a locomotive for Turkey’s economic development, efforts are continuing to develop and support all items such as tourism, air, land, sea and rail transportation, medical tourism, foreign student admission, IT and software, TV series film export separately.

In this regard, Turkey’s service exports have increased more than 6 times in the last 20 years. Following was also mentioned in a statement: “Our service exports, which were 14 billion dollars in 2002, increased by 47 percent compared to the previous year and signed a record of 90.5 billion dollars in 2022. Thus, our services balance of 50 billion dollars has taken an important position at the point of closing the current account deficit.”

The statement also shared following; “Turkey’s success in service exports in the international arena has shown itself and it is the 23rd largest exporter with a share of 1.3 percent worldwide.”

TURKEY TARGETS TO REACH US$ 120 BILLION IN SERVICE EXPORTS

Emphasizing that Turkey has become the country with the highest growth rate among the top 30 exporting countries in the world after Spain with the increase in service exports last year, the statement reminded that service exports amounted to $ 25.8 billion with an increase of 22.6 percent in the first 4 months of this year. In the statement, it was mentioned that the target was to reach US$ 120 billion.
