Economy in Turkey: “Motorcycle couriers will be taxed under a simplified procedure”
Minister Şimşek stated that with the new regulation, the commercial earnings from motorcycle courier activities would be taxed under a simplified procedure, tip income would not be associated with regular wage income, and would be shown separately from service fees and thus would not be subject to VAT.
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek made a statement regarding the regulation about tips and motorcycle couriers.
In a post quoting the ministry’s announcement on his social media account, Şimşek said, “There is no new tax on the income of motorcycle couriers or on waiters’ tips; we are providing an exemption. We are simplifying the taxation of motorcycle courier activities and tip incomes.”
Şimşek also added: “With the regulation, commercial earnings from motorcycle courier activities will be taxed under a simplified procedure, tip income will not be associated with regular wage income, and will be shown separately from service fees and thus will not be subject to VAT.”
