EPDA signals intervention on electricity prices: Measures will be taken up to 6 months

Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDA) has announced measures will be taken to cover 6 months ahead, without disturbing the structure of the free market and without interfering with the functioning of the market, by short-and long-term evaluation of or the security of electricity supply and the effect of price increases on consumers.

In the statement shared, therefore, it was said EPDA had specified the procedure for measures to be taken within the authority limit provided by the law, in order to prevent unreasonable prices of electric energy, ensure contribution of plants that cannot produce due to increases in production cost and enable healthy and uninterrupted functioning of the market.

Following note was also shared by EPDK: EPDK, together with our ministry, will continue to pursue prices of electrical energy and resources both domestically and abroad, and, if necessary, shall take all feasible measures within the scope of law and related legislation.”
