EPDK takes action! Review of electricity bills for December
EPDK (Energy Market Regulatory Authority) has brought December bills under spotlight following complaints that electricity tariffs valid from January 1st, were reflected in December bills. Chairman of EPDK has said retail companies have to make calculations based on the number of days between first and last reading dates, adding “For example they should count days in December and calculate consumption and amount according to tariff valid for December and then calculate the consumption and amount for January according to days used in January.” The company that applies the the tariff applicable for a different month will have to pay a heavy price.”
He emphasized that during the tariff transition times, there may be situations where the unit prices based on consumption seen on the invoice were not considered compatible with the tariffs published by the EMRA, but this would certainly not affect the final calculation.
The chairman continued as follows: “There are complaints made to our institution that the tariffs valid from January 1 are reflected in the December bills. The method of calculating invoices of companies is obvious. No company can go beyond this method. We expect our citizens to use the invoice calculation module on our website if they have the slightest hesitation and to contact our institution urgently if they detect any errors”
