President Tayyip Erdogan has made a statement saying “Turkey is now in the space League with domestic and National technologies” and heralding that the country would start the first space trials of the nationally developed liquid fuel rocket engine technology.

At an opening ceremony of the Satellite Launch, Space Systems and Advanced Technologies Center and the explosive raw material production facility held at Roketsan’s Lalahan campus President Tayyip Erdogan made a speech and shared following important points.

“We do not have tolerance for the lack of coordination and coordination in the field of defense industry. In particular, we will never agree to provision of items we can produce locally, from abroad. Using the limited resources we have, to develop and strengthen our own defense industry should be our first priority. I expect maximum sensitivity from our industry on this issue. I believe that by working in cooperation and coordination, you will lead our country to the league of giants in the defense industry.”

Our first domestic probe rocket launched with national technologies reached an altitude of 130 kilometers and crossed the 100-kilometer line, which is considered the border of space. Thus, Turkey took its first step into space with fully self-developed technologies. Now we are in the space League with domestic and National technologies. As we send this rocket with solid fuel technology, hopefully from now on we will go to the stage of testing with both solid and liquid fuel. I want to give the good news here that we will begin the first space trials of nationally developed liquid-fuel rocket engine technology. We also continue to develop hybrid fuel rocket engines. At this center, we are working on future technologys such as miniature weapons, hypersonic systems, directed energy weapons with laser and electromagnetic technology. The total size of the projects in the UHD of our center exceeds 9 billion pounds.”
