EU countries approve decision to ban purchase of oil from Russia

The member states of the European Union (EU) have approved the new package of sanctions, which includes the official decision to impose a ban on oil imports from Russia.

The sixth package of sanctions against Russia was approved at a meeting of representatives of the member states in Luxembourg, and these measures will be published in the Official Journal of the EU tomorrow, it was reported in a share on the official social media account of the President of the EU France.

According to the package, which includes new sanctions on Russia, the assets of some Russian officials, oligarchs and family members who played a role in the attacks on Ukraine will be frozen. A travel ban will be imposed on these people.

OIL IMPORTS WILL BE BANNED

– By the end of this year, Russia’s oil imports will be reduced by 92 percent.
– The provision of services to the Russian oil sector will also be prohibited.
– Three Russian banks, among them Sberbank, and one Belarusian bank will be Decommissioned from the international payment system SWIFT.

The scope of the export ban to Russia will be expanded.
