Expatriate friends in Turkey and their contribution to this country

"Share this post on social media, spread the news"

Turkey has certainly been home to many major states/empires throughout history and the Ottoman Empire was the last one before modern Republic of Turkey was established. Turks started their social relations with Europe during the Ottomans and developed them further after the establishment of the republic.

However, it was not until a few decades ago that the strong and friendly relations prevailing so powerfully between peoples of many European countries and Turkish people started to develop substantially. Thanks to improved opportunities of traveling as well as new developments in internet and digital communication across the globe during the last several decades, the relations between Europeans (and peoples from different parts of the world) and Turks swiftly improved paving the way to many foreign friends falling in love with Turkey and getting settled down in this country as their second home.

These friends grew a strong like for the country and even managed to adopt many local traditions, which has been a fact truly appreciated by locals. They were welcome by Turks to benefit from all beauties offered by this country together with their new neighbors.

In return on the other hand they also brought their sophisticated culture and manners and some other good points such as philosophy of life and in specific LOVE FOR ANIMALS.

It goes without saying Turks (even during the Ottoman times) have mostly fed animals and tried to take care of them to the best of their capability and mostly plenty in the streets. Today however, after several decades and together with some contributions they have made to Turkish society, these foreign friends have certainly been good examples about how to best care for animals as our best and loyal friends.

In particular, we can see these efforts on social media where many foreign friends spend truly enormous effort to provide shelter and food as well as vet treatment when need be which certainly requires considerable finance, at the end of the day. LINDA I. KAYA, a foreign friend living in a village near Milas, Turkey is one of them.

Linda runs a group on Facebook called “Ayak’s Animals (Rescue & Welfare)” with URL https://www.facebook.com/groups/1607279819516748/ where you can follow much information about street animals in the area once you join the group. It is amazing to see the amount of effort she spends and sacrifice she has to bear with to ensure those animals in the area are healthy and safe (which is the main reason we have written this article). We believe many more animal lovers should (could) check out her page and consider contributing to support this kind person in her endeavor explained above together with her good hearted husband KAYA Bey.

To recap, the least you could do is check out and join said group to follow the effort these two good hearted people have been spending all along – and share the page with your friends 🙂
