As the countdown to 2025 begins, fees for various services, including driver’s licenses, passports, driving courses, and vehicle inspections, are set to rise significantly in the new-year. With the approaching price hikes, millions have rushed to renew their licenses and passports, creating a 40% increase in demand and long queues at population directorates.

Experts caution that those wishing to avoid the fee increase should act quickly, as appointments are becoming harder to secure each day.

DRIVER’S LICENCES WILL SEE A SUBSTANTIAL PRICE HIKE IN 2024

Currently, those applying to renew their driver’s licenses before December 31, 2024, pay a fee of only 15 TL. However, this fee may see a hike of multiple times for those who wait until 2025, as old licenses will no longer be valid. Likewise, there is a significant increase expected in passport fees, prompting many to apply now to avoid the 44% price hike scheduled for January.

The rise in demand has also led to a notable increase in driver’s license courses, vehicle inspection stations, and population directorates, especially in cities like Ankara, where a driving course owner reported that applications had doubled over the last month.

He also advised applicants to complete their paperwork by the second week of December, as obtaining a license requires a specific timeframe.
