Fenerbahçe which is among top two most popular Turkish football teams qualified for semi-finals in the UEFA Europa League after a 1-1 draw in Rome on Thursday, April 11th. Fenerbahçe had beaten Lazio 2-0 in Istanbul which brought the Turkish team an advantage of 3-1 win on aggregate.

Thus the Istanbul side made history qualifying for the first time ever in the Europa League semifinals.

The two-goal advantage from last week’s first game was good enough on aggregate for the Fenerbahce in the match with no supporters as Lazio fans were banned by UEFA.

Bosnian left winger Senad Lulic opened the score with a header inside the area in the 60th minute. Just when the Italians started to push harder for a much desired victory, Fenerbahçe equalized with Caner Erkin in the 73rd minute.
