Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry: “Adopt, give breath to a life”

The Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry has made a call for the adoption of animals living on the streets or in shelters. With the slogan “Adopt, Give a Breath to a Life,” the call aims for animal-loving businesses and citizens to neuter, adopt, and provide a warm home for stray animals.

The call from the Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry is as follows:

With the new process initiated by the Animal Protection Law Amendment Act, which passed the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly on July 30, 2024, and came into force by being published in the Official Gazette on August 2, 2024, the best way to prevent the disruption of social peace and to help our animals living on the streets is through neutering and individual adoption.

To set an example for all of Turkey from these lands, which are the cradle of civilizations dominated by Yörük culture, we invite our municipalities, non-governmental organizations, businesses, businessmen, and animal lovers to support neutering and to give breath to a stray animal. As suggested by Selda Korhan Kaya, representing our region’s 11,000-member Fethiye Animal Lovers Solidarity and Cooperation Group (HAYPET), if each of our businesses, factories, and animal lovers adopts a pet from the street or a shelter, significant progress can be made.

Of course, isolated incidents resulting in injuries sadden us all. To reduce these incidents, the number of stray animals living on the streets must be reduced.

Now is the time to prove that these special lands, which host guests from all over the world, are inhabited by compassionate and merciful people, living up to the name of our tourism paradise.

Additionally, we are all going through stressful times due to our busy work schedules. Love is the cure for everything. By adopting pets, we can become happier and more peaceful. The animals we adopt will also contribute to instilling a sense of responsibility in our children. With this understanding, we call on all our businesses and the public: Let’s adopt, and give a breath to a life.
