Turkey Removes 12-Month Instalment Limit on Goods and Services

Turkey’s Ministry of Trade has abolished existing time and spending limits on instalment payments for retail goods and services, excluding housing sales. The change was introduced through an amendment to the Regulation on the Principles and Rules to Be Applied in Retail Trade, published in the Official Gazette on 15 October 2026.
Previously, instalment payments were generally subject to a 12-month limit, with separate restrictions applying to certain categories. These included air travel, travel services, accommodation, furniture, electronic devices and household appliances. The amendment removes these specific limits, as well as rules that differentiated instalment arrangements according to purchase amounts.
Under the new regulation, the Ministry of Trade now has the authority to determine instalment periods and introduce additional restrictions for goods and services sold on instalments.
The changes took effect on 15 October, the date of publication. However, the removal of the previous limits does not necessarily mean that all purchases can automatically be paid for over longer periods. Any new restrictions or conditions will depend on decisions subsequently announced by the Ministry.
