Final Day to Renew Old Driver’s Licenses for 15 TL Before Price Jumps to 7,438 TL
Time is running out for drivers in Turkey still holding old-style licenses. The deadline to replace the old driver’s licenses with new ones officially ends today, October 31, 2025. After business hours, these old licenses will no longer be valid.
There are still around 1.8 million people who haven’t renewed their licenses. If they fail to complete the renewal process by the end of the day, their documents will become invalid — and the renewal cost will skyrocket from just 15 TL to over 7,400 TL.
The Ministry’s Final Reminder
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has repeatedly warned that the renewal deadline will not be extended. He emphasized that those who missed the October 31 date would lose their right to renew under the discounted fee system.
“October 31 is approaching, and the deadline will not be extended. After this date, old-style licenses will no longer be valid,” Yerlikaya said. He urged citizens to book their appointments and renew their licenses immediately through the population directorates.
From 15 TL to 7,438 TL Starting November 1
Today, renewing your driver’s license costs just 15 TL. However, beginning November 1, 2025, the renewal fee for a B-class license will rise to 7,438.60 TL. This means drivers will have to pay an additional 7,423 TL if they miss the deadline.
For other license categories, such as A, A1, A2, and F, the new fee will be 3,643.10 TL, while for higher categories like C, D, and E, the cost will climb to 11,235.60 TL.
How to Renew Your Driver’s License
Drivers can make a renewal appointment through the Alo 199 Call Center, the mobile app, or the official website nvi.gov.tr. Applicants must bring the old license, a driver’s medical report, a biometric photo taken within the last six months, and proof of address registered in the MERNIS system.
The new driver’s licenses are printed and sent to the applicant’s address via PTT. In the meantime, drivers can use a temporary license available through e-Government or population offices until their new one arrives.
