Firefighting teams continue their efforts to prevent the wildfire in Mugla from spreading

In Muğla’s Milas district, firefighting teams continue their efforts to prevent the wildfire from spreading. Volunteers are also supporting these efforts, working alongside the teams with heavy machinery and bulldozers to block the fire’s advance.

Local farmers and residents are helping by carrying hoses to assist the firefighters.

Volunteer Arda Gülenay, involved in the firefighting efforts, said, “This is one of the toughest situations we’ve faced. The fire flares up from different spots. We rush to one area, but it doesn’t work, then we rush to another, and it still doesn’t work. If the wind allows, we’ll get it under control, but it seems like we’ll only manage with air support by morning.”

A local farmer, Yüksel Karaca, who has olive trees near the fire zone, expressed his distress: “Our hearts are burning. We’re finished, totally devastated. The wildlife and mountains are gone. I’ve been here for 55 years, and these pine trees have always been here. When will we see these trees again? Our olive groves are here, and the fire has already reached them.”
