FORD Otomotiv ranks top of the list among largest exporters of Turkey in 2018

Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OİB) has announced champion exporters of 2018 in the sector. Based on the data provided by OIB FORD Otomotiv has ranked number one on the list among companies that realized exports worth of US$ 31.6 billion last year. The company was followed by TOYOTA and TOFAŞ

According to the data provided by Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OİB), the exports of the automotive sector which made a good start in 2019, increased by 1.9 percent to $ 2 billion 330 million. Share of the industry in Turkey’s exports stood at 17.7 percent. Champion Companies in the automotive industry have been announced for 13 consecutive years.

The first three companies were followed by Kibar Foreign Trade, Oyak Renault, TGS Foreign Trade, Mercedes-Benz Turk, Bosch Industry and Trade, Man Truck & Bus and Tırsan Trailer Industry and Trade.

According to OIB data, the exports of the automotive industry in January increased by 1.9 percent to $ 2 billion 330 million. Turkey’s export share of the industry stood at 17.7 percent. The automotive industry, which made a good start to this year, maintained its high export average last year. In the first month of this year, there was a decrease in exports in passenger cars, while in the other main product groups there was a double-digit export increase.

On the basis of product groups, exports of automotive sub-industry decreased by 3 percent to $ 872 million, while passenger car exports decreased by 15 percent to $ 813 million.

Exports to Germany which is the largest market in the automotive supply industry was observed to have decreased by 5 percent. Among the major markets, exports to the United Kingdom have increased by 24 percent while exports to the United States have gone up by 28 percent. On the other hand a decline of 26 percent was seen in exports of passenger cars to France and 16 percent to Italy.
