Foreign Investors Continue Buying Turkish Stocks for Third Consecutive Week

Foreign investors maintained their buying streak in Turkish equities for the third straight week. During the week ending July 11, they purchased $178.3 million worth of stocks, according to data released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT). In contrast, they sold $493 million in government debt securities.
The weekly “Securities Statistics” report from the CBRT also shows that foreign investors bought $13.7 million in securities issued by sectors other than general government, referred to as ÖST.
As of July 4, the total value of foreign-held Turkish equities stood at $31.58 billion. By July 11, this figure had risen to $31.85 billion, marking a noticeable increase in foreign interest in the Turkish stock market.
However, foreign investors reduced their holdings in domestic government bonds. The total stock of government debt securities dropped from $14.71 billion to $14.05 billion in the same period. Meanwhile, ÖST holdings increased slightly from $777.5 million to $785.2 million.
This continued foreign inflow into equities suggests growing confidence in Turkish markets, even as government bonds see sustained outflows.
