Fuel Prices Surge Amid Economic Strain and Global Energy Crisis
The Turkish public is feeling the squeeze as inflation continues to rise, and now the latest geopolitical tensions are delivering another blow.
Global Energy Crisis Sparks Domestic Price Hikes
Following the US-Israel attacks on Iran on February 28, a ripple effect across global energy markets has intensified in Turkey, pushing fuel prices even higher.
According to NTV, both gasoline and diesel are set to see another round of price increases. Diesel is expected to rise by 7.67 TL per liter, while gasoline will increase by 2.29 TL per liter.
The new prices are set to come into effect starting tomorrow. Thanks to the continued implementation of the “eşel mobil” system for gasoline, the price hike at the pump is projected to be 57 kuruş per liter.
How Much Will Gasoline and Diesel Cost?
In Istanbul, the price of gasoline is expected to reach 63.17 TL per liter, while in Ankara it will be 64.14 TL, in İzmir 64.42 TL, and in the eastern provinces 65.77 TL.
Diesel prices are climbing even higher, with Istanbul seeing 85.14 TL per liter, Ankara at 86.27 TL, İzmir at 86.54 TL, and the eastern provinces at 88 TL per liter.
The combination of local economic policies and global energy disruptions is hitting Turkish households hard, making fuel one of the most talked-about challenges in daily life today.
