Global issues: Turkey’s Foreign Minister says there is a risk of World War III

Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made some important statements about the latest developments in the region and globally. Fidan stated that he believed the world should take this threat seriously and noted following: “This is a matter that has been thoroughly calculated. The massacre, the genocide in Gaza is a genocide that divides humanity into two. It’s a point where humanity converges. There is a structure standing against this

Fidan went on to say following: “This structure has an ongoing issue in Ukraine. Two wars, global economic competition, and the unexpected surge in artificial intelligence have suddenly brought the question ‘Who will have technological superiority?’ to the forefront. This is a topic progressing under normal market conditions. The potential emerging here is enormous.”

RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR

“Our current situation with Russia is highly significant, particularly in the Syrian domain. Bilateral cooperation on energy matters is exceedingly important, as is trade volume and the status of Turkish firms. I met with Turkish companies to discuss their issues. Overall, they are satisfied. On the other hand, the Ukraine issue is extremely important. We have stated our position.

The ongoing war’s cost to the region and the world is immense. More alarmingly, this risk could grow and spread. It could spread geographically and methodologically. Nuclear weapons could come into play.

CHINA IRAN AND RUSSIA MOVING TOWARDS STRUCTURAL PARTNERSHIP

During my travels to China and Russia, I observed that the war hadn’t spread elsewhere, but global fragmentation is increasing. Russia, China, and Iran are moving towards a structural partnership. This is a proliferation resulting from the war.

We conveyed to our counterparts that peace was essential regarding Ukraine and that Russia needed to determine its stance. Indeed, two days later, Mr. Putin outlined the conditions for Russia to stop the war in Ukraine.

It was significant for Mr. Putin to articulate this. Our greatest concern is the continuation of the war. Over 500,000 have died, and the country’s infrastructure is on the verge of collapse. The war is now being carried into Russia.

I always see a ground for negotiation processes. Some assistance is needed in that direction. There are critical elections in Europe and the USA. There is a trend towards waiting. Neither side wants to show weakness by being the first to talk about peace, negotiation, or dialogue. There is significant mobilization. This is becoming structural.

RISK OF WORLD WAR III

Mr. Putin, among others, has expressed that he would not hesitate to use nuclear weapons. This is precisely the issue we have emphasized and warned about from the beginning. As long as the war continues, this risk will persist. There is no escape from it.

All sides will be forced to use game-changing methods. There is a spark that could spread to other areas. We are in the Black Sea basin. To our south, there is a security problem and chaotic environment due to Israel in the eastern Mediterranean. There is a risk of World War III.”

These must be read and managed well. Turkish diplomacy is making efforts to stop the wars. Our President’s will is in this direction.
