BODRUM WATER PROBLEM

Tamer Mandalinci, the CHP (Republican People’s Party) candidate for Mayor of Bodrum, stated, “We will ensure uninterrupted water flow from the taps. All streets will be spotlessly clean.”

“Ending the water problem in Bodrum will be my first task,” said Tamer Mandalinci, the CHP candidate for Mayor of Bodrum. Mandalinci, who visited SÖZCÜ newspaper, stated that he and Ahmet Aras, the CHP candidate for Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, would implement solution-oriented projects to ensure uninterrupted water flow from the taps in Bodrum. Mandalinci pointed out that the Mumcular Dam, which supplied water to Bodrum, could not be used as it had reached a critical point of depletion. He stated that the current water demand was being met by the Geyik Dam and underground drilling.

“POWER PLANTS ARE STRAINING”

He went on to say, “However, the 16 million cubic meters of clean water source in the Geyik Dam is being used for cooling thermal power plants in the Kemerköy and Yeniköy in Akbelen. Muğla Metropolitan Municipality requested the transfer of this dam to itself, but did not succeed. Together with our non-governmental organizations and our citizens, we will strive for the use of the water in this dam for human needs first, that is, as drinking water. We have a water leakage problem that everyone is deeply concerned about, which has reached an extreme level. We will take immediate action on the solution of the water crisis from the moment we take office, and we will also work on better management of water.”
