GOOD Party leader makes statement regarding armed assault on Party HQ in Istanbul

After the shooting at the Istanbul Provincial Presidency of the GOOD Party, chairperson Meral Akşener made statements. Akşener recalled that the attack had taken place after President Erdogan’s threat and said, “I’m not afraid, Mr. Recep (President Erdogan’s first name).”

The Istanbul Provincial Presidency of the GOOD Party was shot at by an unidentified person or persons today. Erdogan had recently targeted Akşener, warning “Be careful regarding our (my) name. My name is Tayyip, and my surname is Erdogan. Pay attention to Erdogan as well, pay attention to the name Tayyip. When you speak, speak accordingly. Don’t make me bother with you either.”

IYI Party leader Meral Akşener made statements in front of the Provincial Presidency. Akşener’s statements, which reminded of Erdogan’s threat, were as follows:

“First and third floors of our building were shot at: I should call you president, but a president does not speak like that. After the threat of Recep Bey, first and third floors of our building were shot at.”

“’You’re doing these things wrong, Miss, I was told, my house was raided. And this time I was told not to give you bothering. Today, the Istanbul Provincial Presidency of our party was shot at 2 places.”

“I’m not afraid, Recep Bey: Turkey cannot be a tribal state. It cannot be managed with this freak system. It is unacceptable to try to intimidate political parties 1.5 months before the elections. We are not afraid. This is a great insult to the electorate. My dear nation, if this freak system continues, it is for us today and it will be for you tomorrow. The man who will scare Meral Akşener has not yet been born from his mother. I’m not afraid, Mr. Recep.”
