Government decides to establish a complaint line for tenants to report excessive rents

The first measures emerged from the meeting of the four ministries that discussed how to find a solution to high housing rents. Accordingly, tenants will report abnormal rents to the complaint line. It will be monitored whether landlords submit a declaration and ensure that they remain within legal limits on rent increases.
Inflation and the cost of living cannot be overcome due to the policies of the government in Turkey.
According to the house price index published by the Central Bank (MB), the annual increase in house prices in March was 110 percent.
Apart from the new housing loan solution announced by President Tayyip Erdogan against this crisis, prices had increased even more. So this measure turned out to be in vain, too. Two days ago, officials of the ministry of environment and urbanization, trade, justice and finance had gathered about the increase.
A complaint hotline will be established
Landlords who demand above-normal house rents from tenants will be able to complain about their tenants. It is expected that a hotline will be created for this. Tenants who will reach the private line to be determined will be able to submit rental complaints about their landlords. Homeowners can be complained about over the line. In addition, tenants will also be able to get legal assistance from experts at the end of the line.
It is aimed that a similar complaint mechanism will be implemented through the e-government.
