FOREIGNERS LEAVING TURKEY

The total number of foreigners living in Turkey with residence permits is around 1,107,032.  The number of foreigners living in Turkey with residence permits decreased by 247,062 in one year. Within the past year, 63,704 Russians and Ukrainians returned to their countries.

MORE THAN HALF RESIDE IN ISTANBUL

According to the data from the Ministry of Interior Directorate General of Migration Management, as of December 31, 2023, the number of foreigners residing in Turkey with residence permits reached 1,107,032. Istanbul, with 556,578 foreigners, tops the list of cities hosting the highest number of foreigners.

After Istanbul, Antalya follows in the distribution of foreigners with residence permits by cities, with a recorded number of 117,052. Among other cities with significant numbers are Ankara with 70,098, Bursa with 51,537, Mersin with 43,944, Izmir with 25,576

NUMBER OF FOREIGNERS LIVING IN MUĞLA

Based on said data number of foreigners living in Muğla is 20,453. Most of these foreigners are known to be from UK mainly.

40,523 FOREIGNERS LEFT ANTALYA

In Antalya, a popular destination for migration, the number of foreigners with residence permits decreased by 40,523 from January 19 to December 31. The number of foreigners living in Antalya with residence permits dropped from 157,575 on January 19 to 117,052 on December 31.

63,704 RUSSIANS AND UKRAINIANS RETURNED TO THEIR COUNTRIES

Following the pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, the number of Russian and Ukrainian citizens in Turkey decreased from 201,533 on January 19 to 137,829 on December 31. Between these dates, 63,704 Russians and Ukrainians returned to their countries. The number of Russian citizens decreased from 154,297 to 100,847, and the number of Ukrainian citizens decreased from 47,236 to 36,982.

FROM 179 THOUSAND TO 1.1 MILLION IN 18 YEARS

The number of foreigners with residence permits in Turkey increased from 178,964 in 2005 to 422,895 in 2015. This number continued to rise, reaching 856,470 in 2018 and surpassing 1 million for the first time in 2019, reaching 1,101,030.

This number was recorded as 886,653 in 2020, 1,314,181 in 2021, and 1,354,094 in 2022. As of December 31, 2023, the number of foreigners with residence permits decreased by 247,062 to 1,107,032.
