Imamoglu, mayor of Istanbul: We target 20 million visitors in 2024

Ekrem Imamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, stated that they aim to surpass 20 million visitors next year, exceeding the 17 million visitors in Istanbul this year.

Speaking at the opening of the “Routes World 2023” event held at the Istanbul Fair Center, Ekrem Imamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), mentioned the significant efforts they have made in transportation, accommodation, and the preservation of cultural and historical heritage during their 4.5 years in office.

Imamoğlu said, “We have created a ‘Tourism Platform’ for our city, Istanbul. This platform, which brings together all the components of the tourism sector in our city and the scientific community, has made our collaboration more effective by continuing our planning and work with our management team.”

Imamoğlu expressed that Istanbul, one of the world’s top tourism destinations, has not yet fully realized its tourism potential. He also stated that their goal was to surpass 20 million visitors next year, after exceeding 17 million visitors this year.
