IMF: “Turkey’s per capita income has fallen below the world average”

The IMF has presented striking data on Turkey in its World Economic Outlook report. According to the report, while Turkey’s per capita income was $1,500 above the world average, it fell $500 below the world average in 2023.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) released its World Economic Outlook report twice a year. According to this, Turkey has declined in the ranking of per capita income over the past 10 years.

While Turkey’s per capita income was $1,500 above the world average 10 years ago, it fell $500 below the world average. Turkey also lost ground in the ranking of the world’s largest economies but still remains among the top 20 economies.

TURKEY RANKS 72ND IN PER CAPITA INCOME

Several indicators can be used to assess Turkey’s position in the world economy. One of these is per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP). According to the IMF’s report published in April 2024, Turkey’s per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was $12,849 in 2023. With this income, Turkey ranked 72nd in the world.

In 2013, Turkey’s per capita GDP was $12,489. Turkey was ranked 66th in per capita income in 2013. Therefore, Turkey has fallen 6 places in per capita income rankings over the past 10 years.
