Minister Soylu says 1000 staff from special operations will be sent to Greek border

Amid rising tension between refugees and the Greek security forces at the Turkish Greek border Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu conducted aerial surveys at the border. He said, “We are bringing 1,000 special operations police into the entire border system of Meric, fully equipped, to prevent repulsion/rejection of refugees”.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, came to Çorlu Airport to make investigations at Pazarkule and Kastanies border crossing.

Soylu passed to Edirne by helicopter and examined the situation of refugees and the area on the Turkey-Greece border from the air.

On the other hand, Interior Minister Soylu answered questions in a program on TV regarding the refugee issue, yesterday evening. The minister said the number of migrants crossing from Turkey to Greece was 137,878 and that “25 percent of those crossing into Greece were Syrians. He went on to say, “If we don’t touch anything, there will be 1 million immigrants a year. Greece has no capability to hold it”.
