Journalist Tolga Şardan Arrested Due to ‘MİT Article’ submitted to presidency

TOLGA SARDAN JOURNALIST DETAINED

T24 writer Tolga Şardan, who was detained based on his article titled ‘What is in the ‘judiciary report’ submitted by MİT to the presidency?’ was arrested. Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had initiated an investigation against Şardan on the grounds of ‘publicly disseminating misleading information’ resolutely due to the said article.

Şardan, who was taken into custody in the afternoon, was arrested by the court after his interrogation at the police station and the prosecutor’s office. The news was announced by journalist Alican Uludağ. Şardan, who was sent to prison, stated, “We are journalists, we are practicing journalism.”

What had happened?

In his article, Şardan had written that in the ‘judiciary report’ prepared by MİT upon the request of the presidency, there were two significant sections, with the first one being about the scandalous decisions, procedures, and practices in the courthouses of major cities over the last five to six years.
