July Raises for Retirees and Public Workers Announced

It’s official — the July pay hike for retirees and civil servants in Turkey is now confirmed. TÜİK (Turkish Statistical Institute) has released the June inflation data, and that means the adjustment rates are locked in. SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees will receive a 16.67 percent raise, while civil servants will see their salaries go up by 15.58 percent.
Inflation Sets the Tone Again
As expected, inflation data played the leading role in determining these figures. June’s monthly inflation came in at 1.37 percent, while the annual rate reached 35.05 percent. The raises are based solely on the six-month inflation difference, with no additional welfare bonus added this time. That decision has left some people, especially those on tighter budgets, feeling a bit let down.
SSK and Bağ-Kur Retirees Get a Modest Bump
A 16.67 percent raise may sound decent on the surface, but for many retirees struggling with everyday costs, it’s not enough. With food prices, rent, and healthcare expenses continuing to climb, this increase might feel more like a patch than a solution.
Civil Servants See a 15.58 Percent Increase
Public employees will see their salaries rise by 15.58 percent. The lowest civil servant wage now stands at 52,620 TL. Still, given the pace of inflation and ongoing economic uncertainty, many are questioning how far this increase will really go, especially for those living in big cities where costs are substantially higher.
Raises Arrive in July, but the Bigger Picture Matters
These new figures will be reflected in July paychecks, which is good news for many. But there’s still a lingering sense that more needs to be done. People are already asking whether the government will introduce further support or adjustments later in the year. Because while this raise helps, the pressure of daily living expenses hasn’t let up — and everyone’s feeling it.
