HELISKI SPORT RIZE TURKEY

Despite the coronavirus outbreak still continuing, the region and Turkey expects to receive substantial tourism revenues thanks to the heliski lovers expected to visit the region in 2022.

Heliski, a sport in which skiers dropped off at the top of the mountain by helicopter slide on steep slopes and high slopes, is organized in several centers around the world. In Turkey, this sport has been held in the Yusufeli district of Çamlıhemşin, Ikizdere and Artvin, which are within the borders of the Rize of the Kaçkar Mountains, since 2005.

The Provincial Sportive Tourism Board of the Rize Governorate has granted a license to the Ayder Heliski Aviation and Tourism Company (a partnership with Turkey-Switzerland) this year for the heliski sport conducted in the Ayder Plateau and the Kaçkar Mountains on the borders of the Çamlıhemşin district.

It is reported that the officials in charge have placed the marking and transmitter points where the helicopters will connect.

Since 2004 …

An official who made a statement here has shared that they had been practicing this sport in the Kaçkar Mountains since 2004. Stating that they were increasing every year, he added “About 400 reservations have been made this year. Due to the pandemic process, the mountains are closed in Canada, Switzerland and some regions. There is no skiing. The high quality of the snow in our region and the good quality of the services provided pleased the guests who came. The visitors who come here promote the Kaçkar Mountains and our country. This is something that is pleasing both for us and for our country.”
