IMAMOGLU AHEAD OF ERDOGAN ELECTION TO BE HELD

The results of the December 2021 survey shared by YÖN EYLEM, a political research company shows Istanbul mayor Ekrem IMAMOGLU has a 17-point advantage over President Erdogan in the second round, in a presidential election to be held today (obviously the actual date is in June 2023).

YÖN EYLEM (Operations Research), shared the results of its December 2021 research. According to the study, the rate of those who wanted to return to the Parliamentary system was 62 percent, while the proportion of those who wanted to continue with the Presidential System of Government was measured as 30.5 percent. In the study, the proportion of those who wanted an early election was 55 percent and the proportion of those who found an early election unnecessary was 41 percent.

The Nation’s Alliance is ahead

As of December, the Nation’s Alliance (opposition bloc) was measured 6 points ahead of the Public (Cumhur) Alliance. The Nation’s Alliance stood at 40.8 percent and the Public Alliance at 34.8 percent before the undecided and no-vote were distributed.

Imamoglu is well ahead

In the first round of the presidential election, 37 percent of voters said they would support Erdogan, 41 percent Imamoglu, 10 percent Demirtas if the Public (Cumhur) Alliance nominated Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the HDP (pro-Kurdish) nominated Selahattin Demirtas, and the Nation’s Alliance nominated Ekrem Imamoglu. Those who said they were undecided were at 1.6 percent; those who said they would not vote were at 8.6 percent.

In the second round, the proportion of those who said they would vote for the opposition candidate against Erdogan was measured as 49 percent, and the proportion of those who said they would vote for Erdogan was measured as 35 percent.
