WAR BETWEEN ISRAEL AND HAMAS

In Beirut, Washington, Gaza, and Tel Aviv, the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has resulted in a grim toll, with casualties continuing to rise. As of Sunday, the death toll stands at least 400 Israelis and 313 Palestinians, while thousands more have been injured in the violence.

On Saturday, militants from Hamas managed to infiltrate southern Israeli towns, taking hostages and launching over 3,000 rockets towards Israel. This marked a significant escalation in the conflict. Both sides have suffered casualties, and the situation remains highly volatile.

ROCKET ATTACKS FROM BOTH ISRAEL AND GAZA

Rocket attacks from both Israel and Gaza persisted throughout the night. Additionally, Israel engaged in a skirmish with Lebanon’s Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, though no casualties have been reported from these incidents.

LARGE SCALE OFFENSIVE IN GAZA

Saturday’s clashes were some of the most intense in recent Israeli history, reminiscent of the conflicts in 1948 and 1973. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed a large-scale offensive in Gaza, aimed at destroying all Hamas hideouts. Israeli officials have noted that Hamas conducted a multi-front attack, infiltrating Israeli territory through sea, air, and ground operations.

Supporters of Hamas celebrated the group’s unprecedented attack on Israel in Gaza, Istanbul, and Damascus.

US EXPRESSES SOLIDARITY WITH ISRAEL

In response to the escalating violence, US officials expressed solidarity with Israel, with President Joe Biden contacting Prime Minister Netanyahu on Saturday. These developments mark the most serious escalation in the Israel-Hamas conflict since May 2021.
