Letter from Hollywood Stars to Biden: “Stop the Bombing of Gaza”

Prominent Hollywood figures including Joaquin Phoenix, Cate Blanchett, and Susan Sarandon have called on U.S. President Joe Biden to issue a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict, stating, “Saving lives is a moral obligation.”

In a letter organized by artists4ceasefire.org, the following statements were made:

“As the President of the United States, we kindly request that you immediately call for a reduction of tension and a ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before more lives are lost.

In the past one and a half weeks, more than 5,000 people have been killed. Anyone with a conscience knows that this number is a disaster. Regardless of faith or ethnic background, we believe that all life is sacred and condemn the killing of Palestinian and Israeli civilians.

We invite your administration and all world leaders to honor all lives in the Holy Land, to promptly call for a ceasefire, to stop the bombing of Gaza, and to release the hostages safely. Half of the two million people living in Gaza are children, and more than two-thirds are refugees and their descendants who have been forced to leave their homes. Humanitarian aid should be allowed to reach them.”
