FOOD INFLATION IN TURKEY

Istanbul’s inflation has reached its peak in the last 24 years and stands at 90 percent. The cost of living in a family of four in a megacity stands at 20 thousand liras. The low bill expected to come true in the summer has also become a dream. The government attributes the price increases to global markets, while businessmen say that one in 3 of inflation is outsourced. The policies implemented are starving millions of people.

President Erdogan who said that there was no hunger in the country where the hunger limit is above the minimum wage of 1764 pounds, denied himself in another speech, saying “The hungry are walking around miserable, but they don’t hold back from buying raki, beer etc”.

THE MAIN AGENDA IS THE COST OF LIVING

The country is going through a period when it wakes up every day with the news of a new hike. Capital segments account for large profits, while high inflation gradually reduces the purchasing power of those with fixed income. At the last point, the main agenda of the citizens is nothing but the cost of life. However, instead of fighting inflation in the implemented policies, steps are being taken to raise it even more. While the Turkish LIRA is experiencing the most worthless period in history, the high exchange rate continues to drive up inflation.
