Mayor of Izmir says “No doubt Istanbul Convention will eventually be applied”

Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer expressed his regret about Turkey’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention based on the decision of President Erdogan and said, “The Istanbul Convention will eventually be implemented again with high seriousness in Turkey. None of us should have any doubts.”

Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer attended the forum on “Violence against Women” held on November 25 as part of the International Day against Violence against Women. President Soyer said, “We are working hard to implement the requirements of the Istanbul Convention in Izmir. I see women as not just a part of this city, but as the city itself.”
