Mehmet Şimşek: Strong interest in our country shows our program is on right track

Minister Mehmet Şimşek shared an update on his visit to the U.S. through his social media account. Attending meetings in the U.S. as part of the IMF and World Bank annual gatherings, Şimşek emphasized the strong interest shown toward Turkey.

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek visited the U.S. with a large delegation, including Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan. The delegation attended the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank and gave presentations.

Şimşek met with U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, as well as World Bank President Ajay Banga and IMF First Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath. Speaking at meetings organized by the Brookings Institution and the Institute of International Finance (IIF), Şimşek shared on the platform X that the discussions had gone well.

Şimşek noted in his post, “The strong interest in our country clearly shows that our program is moving in the right direction,” adding:

“In the U.S. for the World Bank and IMF annual meetings, we held numerous investor meetings and bilateral talks. In our discussions, we explained how we planned to solidify the gains of our program and reach our country’s potential. The strong interest in our country clearly shows that our program is on the right track.”
