Meteorology: Effective rainfall increases dam occupancy rate in Istanbul

Yesterday’s effective rainfall in Istanbul slightly has increased the dam occupancy rate. Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI) announced that the rainfall, which was effective yesterday and this morning, had slightly increased the dam occupancy rate, which had been decreasing for months.

According to the dam occupancy rate as of November 12, the overall occupancy rate of the dams, which was 16.18% on Saturday (yesterday), increased to 16.43% today with a 0.25% increase.

The dam occupancy rate in Istanbul, which was 29.22% at the end of August, had decreased by approximately 6.5 points to 22.7% at the end of September. Due to above-average temperatures continuing after September, the occupancy rate fell below 17% in November.

According to the latest forecasts from the Meteorology General Directorate, rain is expected in Istanbul tomorrow and Wednesday as well.
