Metro strike in Izmir ends with an agreement

METRO STRIKE IZMIR

The strike started by its Izmir Metro employees two days ago upon failure to reach a compromise in collective bargaining agreement negotiations in Izmir, ended after an agreement was reached.

Metro and tram employees who are members of the Turkish Railway Workers Union in Izmir went on strike as they were not able to reach an agreement in the collective bargaining agreement (TIS) negotiations. Eventually the strike ended in an agreement.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer announced the end of the strike on his Twitter account as follows: “Thank God … I am very happy … our metro and trams are starting to work again tomorrow morning. I am very happy that the great troubles that have been going on for 2 days are over. I greet all the people of Izmir with love and respect.”
