Metro to be built by Istanbul Municipality and serve 3.5 million citizens not approved by authority

The 18.4 km SEFAKOY-BEYLİKDUZU-TUYAP Metro line which has been prepared and financed by IMM for the western part of Istanbul where no metro investment has been made to date, is planned to serve 3.5 million people. However, the project has been waiting for signatures from the Presidency and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure for 1 year. The fact that the Metro project was not included in the investment program this year also caused reactions.

Regarding the issue, Mayor EKREM IMAMOGLU  said, “No one will be able hinder the construction of concerned metro which will be used by millions of citizens. Projects are ready, investors are ready, financing is ready. But one signature is missing. Why?”

On the other hand, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality made a written statement about the project approval process.
