Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that a commission would be established to prevent an increase in housing prices. He said, “The Commission will conduct technical and financial audits, monitor the prices set by firms, and the main criterion here will be expert reports.”

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum gave the following answers to journalists’ questions about the housing campaign after the Presidential Cabinet meeting.

“At the moment, our priority is that our citizens who will buy their first home become homeowners. On the other hand, it is also to increase the supply of new housing, to increase employment and production. That is, to realize them all simultaneously. We will also do work to support the second hand housing. But there is no concrete work at this stage yet.

“WE WON’T ALLOW IT”

“We said we wouldn’t allow it. What did we say when announcing the My New Home Campaign? We explained the criteria for those who will buy their first home.

We also said that we would establish a commission for the transparent, auditable operation of the entire process. We are setting up that commission. We are establishing a commission that includes representatives from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the CMB, BRSA and valuation organizations.

This commission will conduct technical and financial audits, monitor the prices set by companies, and the main criterion here will be expert reports. In other words, whatever the price of the house the seller sold this month or the house he sold a week ago was, he will be included in the campaign in accordance with that price.”
