Minister Koca: The use of molnupiravir will start as of next week

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, “The use of the antiviral drug with the active ingredient molnupiravir will begin as of next week.” The minister of health issued a written statement after the meeting of the scientific council and shared following:

* The use of the antiviral drug with the active ingredient molnupiravir will begin as of next week. We will ensure the use of the drug Molnupiravir for our citizens over the age of 65 and our citizens with chronic diseases.

* In all the analyzes conducted, the most affected people by the epidemic are our citizens over the age of 65. The most important point is we need to protect is our elders over the age of 65. One of the most valuable steps of protection is the introduction of reminder dose vaccinations.

* The daily number of cases had reached 40 thousand in Istanbul short while ago. In the last two weeks it has decreased below 20 thousand. One of the first cities where the Omicron variant became widespread was ESKISEHIR. The number of cases in said town has decreased by a third in the last two weeks. Although there is an increase in the number of cases in our other provinces at the moment, similar decreases will be observed in the near future.

* Although our hospital occupancy rates have reached challenging levels in some of our provinces today, the service bed occupancy rate is 57.8 percent, intensive care bed occupancy rate is 68.7 percent and respirator occupancy rate is 31 percent across the country. Our prediction remains that the current course will not strain our hospital capacity.
