Minister of Commerce accepts to have bought disinfectants from her husband’s company

The Ministry of Commerce acknowledged that disinfectants were purchased from the company, chaired by Minister PEKCAN’s husband as board of directors. The Minister also said purchases had been made below market prices.

Recently, media reports had said that the Ministry purchased disinfectant worth between 1.5 million TL and 9 million TL from Karon Engineering and Nanoxia biotechnology companie.

“WAS CARRIED OUT IN DUE MANNER”

Regarding amounts of material procured, the ministerial statement said the allegations were untrue where the purchase made by the ministry during concerned period amounted to TL 6.56 million (excluding VAT) to include masks, alcohol-based disinfectant, visor, gloves.

The statement also said “Purchase of disinfectants worth 507,880 TL (excluding VAT) was carried out in a proper manner from the biotechnology firm Nanoksia at a price quite lower than those in the market after making a product/price survey within the framework of the compulsory provisions of the relevant legislation.
