Miracle after 115 hours, in Turkey’s earthquake: Pregnant woman and 6-year-old daughter rescued from wreckage

RESCUE FROM WRECKAGE AFTER 115 HOURS

A 6-year-old girl and her pregnant mother were rescued from the rubble of a building that collapsed during an earthquake in Nurdağı district of Gaziantep.

Zahide Kaya, who was under the rubble and pregnant in Nurdağı district of Gaziantep during the earthquakes that caused destruction in 10 provinces in the region, was rescued after 115 hours.

AFAD, police special operations teams and search and rescue teams of various non-governmental organizations carried out work on the wreckage of the building located on Hilmi Kutlubay Street in Nurdağ.

Upon the receipt of a sound, the teams concentrated on the wreckage and communicated with Zahide Kaya, who was found under the rubble. Kaya, who is pregnant, was removed injured from the wreckage after hard work.

She was rescued 115 hours after the quake and was first given serum and oxygen support and  taken to the hospital by ambulance. About 1 hour ago, Zahide Kaya’s 6-year-old daughter, Kübra, had also been rescued.
