Muğla Metropolitan Municipality organized a meaningful auction in Bodrum to benefit street animals. During the event, held at the Ramada Hotel and hosted by renowned auctioneer Uğur Batur, Muğla Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Aras emphasized that they viewed all living beings equally and described the auction as a valuable opportunity for their “dear friends.”

The auction, supported by the Metropolitan Municipality, was attended by the Mayor of Bodrum, Tamer Mandalinci, along with members of the Coastal Aegean Municipalities Union, and many philanthropists. The event aimed to draw attention to street animals, with the Municipality already being known for its contributions to animal welfare through its state-of-the-art temporary animal shelter, emergency response vehicle, and pet food production facility.

The auction featured unique pieces that captivated the audience, and the Metropolitan Municipality Orchestra’s Quartet Performance added a musical touch to the evening.

Uğur Batur: “The Sensitivity Shown for Our Little Friends is Crucial”

Auctioneer Uğur Batur expressed his deep connection to the event, stating, “Being part of this event for street animals is very meaningful to me. We know that we must approach our furry friends with even greater sensitivity, especially in recent times. I wholeheartedly commend these beneficial activities for our little friends and thank the Metropolitan Municipality for their support.”

Bodrum Mayor Mandalinci: “We Will Do Everything We Can for Street Animals”

Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci affirmed that local governments are fulfilling all their responsibilities towards street animals. He said, “We aim to expand our shelters in Bodrum and further improve the living spaces for our furry friends. This auction holds great importance for street animals. As local governments, we will do everything we can for the neutering, rehabilitation, and peaceful living of these animals.”

Muğla Metropolitan Mayor Aras: “We View All Living Beings Equally”

Muğla Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Aras highlighted their careful approach to street animals, stating, “We view all living beings equally. Humans are not the owners of nature but share this world with it, along with our furry friends and many other creatures. In an era where violence in society has increased so much, we advocate for the protection of nature. The initial draft law, which planned to euthanize unadopted animals within a month, was a complete disaster. However, thanks to the firm response from Turkish society, the law was changed, and municipalities are now required to build shelters by 2028. We are ready to do this with pleasure. The proceeds from today’s awareness event will go directly to our animal friends, making this project incredibly meaningful. I hope the funds raised here will give our dear friends another chance.” (FETHIYE HABER)
