New Era at Istanbul Airport: Starting on April 17

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has announced a new project set to be launched at Istanbul Airport on April 17. During an evaluation of transportation projects carried out in 2024, Minister Uraloğlu also discussed upcoming initiatives.
He provided details about the new system to be implemented at Istanbul Airport, which will allow for the simultaneous use of three parallel runways. The system will enable three aircraft to take off and land at the same time.
A First in Europe
Minister Uraloğlu highlighted that this application will be the first of its kind in Europe and confirmed that the new system will go live on April 17.
Triple Runway System
Regarding the triple parallel runway system, Uraloğlu said, “With this innovation, Istanbul Airport will continue to be one of the world’s most important aviation hubs.”
2025 Transportation Goals
Uraloğlu also shared transportation goals for 2025, including a target of reaching a total of 30,018 kilometers of divided highway. He also emphasized the importance of high-speed rail projects and new port investments.
