New study in UK says Turkey is no longer a cheap holiday destination
A new study conducted in the UK has revealed that popular tourism regions such as Italy and Spain, which are generally considered more expensive destinations, now offer holidays that are cheaper compared to Turkey. The research indicates that in typically expensive destinations like Spain’s Costa Brava and Italy’s Amalfi Coast, package prices can be cheaper compared to Bulgaria and Turkey.
The research, conducted by Which?, an application aimed at supporting consumer preferences by testing products and services, on the cost of summer holidays, yielded surprising results. The study, which was covered by leading British newspapers including The Telegraph, compared the most affordable holiday packages for this summer among approximately 4,500 tour packages in 15 countries.
Turkey is not on the list of affordable holidays
According to a research by WHICH, the cheapest place for a week’s accommodation including flights and transfers at the beginning of August was found to be the Greek island of Kalimnos, with an average cost of £847 per person. The Telegraph noted in its article that the absence of any destinations from Turkey and Portugal in the top 10 list of affordable holiday resorts was surprising. The research indicated that in typically expensive destinations like Spain’s Costa Brava and Italy’s Amalfi Coast, package prices could be cheaper compared to traditional budget-friendly destinations like Bulgaria and Turkey.
Experts suggest that while the Amalfi Coast may not create an image of affordable holidays, there are high chances of finding budget-friendly accommodation options due to the variety of accommodations and discount choices in the region, along with many affordable flights to the area.
