Political parties divided over PKK withdrawal

Turkey which has been going some major changes recently now faces a strong conflict bewteen political parties over the withdrawal decision as part of the peace process between the country and pro-Kurdish teror organization. In this context, Turkey’s main opposition parties criticize the PKK withdrawal decision as proof of undisclosed concessions to the organization by the government, while the ruling AKP and BDP welcome the move.

PM Erdoğan says Alcohol consumption mother of all evilness

The Global Alcohol Policies Symposium was held in Istanbul on 26th April, Friday thanks to the The Turkish Green Crescent Society and World Health Organization (WHO).

Mr. Erdoğan, PM of Turkey made a speech at the event saying Alcohol consumption was the mother of all evilness and their duty was to protect health of all of our humans.  Erdoğan also mentioned they were in a position to take measures to help save individuals from alcohol addiction which became a serious threat to the health of the society.

Tourism revenues increase to US$ 5 billion in 1st quarter 2013

Turkish Statistical Institution has revealed that Turkey’s tourism revenues wnet up toUS$5 billion in the first quarter of the year, with a 38.6 percent increase on the previous year.

It is reported that this promising development is due to the increase in tourist numbers by 18.7 percent, surpassing 5 million in total in three months.

Turkey and SCO signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation as dialogue partners

Turkish FM Davutoğlu paid a visit to Kazakhstan and met with Secretary General of the SCO Dmitri Mezentsev in the Kazakh city of Almaty.

Davutoğlu who referred to the memorandum of understanding between Turkey and SCO for cooperation as dialogue partners, said it was actually a declaration of “common destiny” and the start of a journey that the organization and Turkey would undertake, hand in hand.

Fenerbahçe beats Benfica 1-0 on the way to Europa League final

Fenerbahçe, Istanbul side has taken a big step ahead of second leg in Lisbon after a 1-0 victory over undefeated Benfica at the Şükrü Saraçoğlu stadium in Istanbul.

Fenerbahçe missed a penalty in the first half and had to wait until 71st minute before finding the golden goal with a header from defendant Egemen KORKMAZ.

Fenerbahce managed to take control of the game in spite of a much feared Benfica during the early minutes of the game.
