Turkey spending utmost effort to to reinstall Morsi as Egyptian president

Turkey is observed to be conducting a strong political campaign to find a way to reinstall ousted Mohammed Morsi as Egyptian president.

Ankara which has expressed disappointment with the hesitant approach of its allies in the Western and Arab world in condemning the coup in Egypt, seems determined to continue its efforts to push the international community to re-instate Mohammed Morsi as president of Egypt.

Ankara’s diplomatic campaign includes the United Nations, the United States, the European Union and prominent Arab countries, such as Qatar and its clear message has been “Military coups are unacceptable, in Egypt or elsewhere. Undoing the coup and re-instating the toppled government should be the priorities of countries with a democratic understanding.”

Ramadan the holy month for Islam begins on July 8th

The first iftar dinner for the those fasting in Hakkari, the eastern most province in Turkey, will be 19:38 hours.

The latest iftar dinner will be in Edirne at 20:59 hours.

Millions of muslims are expected to perform their holy duty by fasting in this holy month.

Turkish economy performs better than Eurozone in GDP growth in 1st quarter 2013

Data published by EuroStat and TurkStat shows that Turkey has surpassed Eurozone countries in economic performance for the first quarter of 2013.

Achievement results posted by authorities show that Turkey has realized a growth rate of 3 percent for the first of quarter of 2013 while Eurozone economies have faced a contraction of 1.1 percent. On the other hand, the Turkish economy has also performed better than 26 of the 28 members of the EU, whose economy has contracted by 0.7 percent on average in the given period. Compared to same period of 2012, the US, the world’s largest economy, recorded a 1.6 percent growth and Japan, 0.2 percent.

As for the economic performance of Turkey in 2012, annual GDP growth was recorded as 2.2 percent following impressive growth rate figures of 9.2 and 8.5 percent in 2010 and 2011 respectively. Turkey’s target for current year is 4 percent as forecasted in the government’s Medium Term Program.

Two new airports to be opened in southeastern Turkey by end of July

It is reported that two new airports in the southeastern provinces of Turkey are expected to be put into operation by the end of this month.

In compliance with the growing transportation and traveling needs of the country more airports have been opened recently.

Within this framework, the Transport, Maritime and Communication Ministry’s concerned department has announced that airports in ŞIRNAK and BINGOL are scheduled to come into service on July 12 and July 26th respectively.

It is recorded that the operation rights of two airports have been transferred to the General Director of State Airports Authority (DHMİ) on July 4. With these new airports with an annual capacity of 500,000 passengers each, the number of airports in service in Turkey will have increased to 52.

Turkish Tourism Minister says “First God, then comes nation”

Addressing thousands of supporters gathered in the capital of the industrial state of North-Rhine Westphalia during a rally in Germany Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Ömer Çelik made a speech and said “First God, then comes the nation”.

Çelik who was running a counter-demonstration to the Gezi Park protests went on to say;

“You brought the Justice and Development Party to power in 2002 to establish your will and your vision. We have gone through junta plots and assassination plots against the AKP. But we all know: First God, then comes the nation. If you believe and know that first comes God and then there is the nation, nobody can divert you from your path”.
