Deputy PM ARINC apologizes for excessive use of force at Taksim
Bülent ARINC, Deputy PM has made a statement saying “Our citizens have showed their legitimate, logical and righteous reaction at Gezi Park”.
ARINC also said that the police response to the initial protests against the demolition of Taksim Gezi Park in favor of a mall had been wrong and apologized to injured protestors.
He added that the police had been ordered not to use tear gas, excluding in cases of self-defense and did not fail to mention however that the government did not feel that they owed anything to those who caused harm.
CHP Chairman says youth gave a lesson to Turkish politics
It was stated by Republican People’s Party Chairman KILICDAROGLU at parliamentary group meeting that Turkish youth had given a lesson to Turkish politics during Gezi Park protests.
CHP leader also drew attention to the need to investigate the police officers who were said to have used disproportional force against the demonstrators and did not fail to add that the world had shown strong reaction to this.
Rasmussen of NATO says freedom of expression is a democratic value
Rasmussen has called on Turkish authorities and anti-government protesters to ensure peaceful protests and said the alliance considers freedom to express one’s political views to be a democratic value.
Rasmussen who had experienced a conflict with Turkish PM Erdoğan during his service as the PM of Denmark at the time, was cautious not to express opinion about domestic politics in Turkey regarding recent protests against the government and said however he urged official authorities as well as protesters to ensure that manifestations of political views could take place in a peaceful manner.

Protests affect Turkish financial markets negatively
The protests which has been on the agenda of Turkey for the last several days have had quite a negative impact on Istanbul Stock Exchange and Borsa Istanbul closed 10.47 percent lower yesterday
As investor concern about anti-government protests across the country appeared to ease today investors were able to make up for the heavy loss from Monday, to a certain extent.
Attention was focused on the morning meeting between President Abdullah Gül and Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç and positive and constructive statements from top officials during the day helped ease the markets.
