Allianz invests EUR 684 million in Turkish insurance market
Germany’s Allianz has boosted its presence in the Turkish insurance market with the acquisition of 93.9 percent shares of Yapi Kredi Sigorta, the insurance arm of Turkish-Italian partnered Yapi Kredi Bank, for TRY 1.6 billion (Approx. EUR 684 million), becoming the top supplier of a property and casualty insurance services in one of the fastest-growing insurance markets in the World.
Babacan:”Global balance shifts to east”
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan attended the Uludag Economy Summit organized in the north-western province of Bursa. Speaking at the summit, Ali Babacan stressed that “The fact that Turkey has kept its promises has made Turkey a rising brand in the world.” He also said “In the last decade, Turkey’s reform program in the scope of EU accession process, economic performance through its economic transformation program, and fulfilling promises all carried Turkey to a different point”.
Turkish exports in February were up 5.8 percent
Turkey’s statistics authority, TurkStat, on Friday announced that Turkish exports in February were worth 12.4 billion USD. In February, Turkish imports were up 9 percent when compared to the same period last year. TurkStat said that Turkish imports in February were worth 19.3 billion USD. Foreign trade deficit in February increased 15.2 percent and reached a value of 6.9 billion USD.
Davutoglu:Israeli apology is not related to Turkey’s policy on Syria
Speaking on a TV channel, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu stressed that serious pressure was applied on Israel in every diplomatic field. Davutoglu said the apology was not related to Turkey’s policy on Syria or Iran but it was the result of a policy conducted insistently. On March 22nd Israel had apologized to Turkey for the fatal Israeli raid on the ‘Mavi Marmara’ aid ship in May 2010 which left nine Turks dead.
Turkey’s top boss takes offices at Middle East arbitration center
Turkey’s top business leader, Rıfat Hisarcıklıoğlu met with both Palestinian and Israeli businessmen on March 27 and then participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Jerusalem Arbitration Center protocol. Turkey’s top boss has officially accepted the position as co-chair of Jerusalem Arbitration Center (JAC), boosting hopes of Israeli and Palestinian business circles for more peaceful commercial ties
