Call on tourism entrepreneurs not to invest in Antalya

Antalya, Turkey’s southern holiday destination accommodates 10.2 million tourists every year.

It has been observed for a while that the tourism sector in Antalya, Turkey’s southern holiday destination is facing a boom in hotel transfers and closures due to fierce competition in the tourism sector. It is also observed that the crisis has been particularly hitting five-star hotels which are sold at much lower rates than their normal worth. Prices between $200 million and $1 billion are referred to, based on nearness to beaches, age of buildings, license etc..

Thus the members of the tourism sector have asked investors to stop establishing hotels in said region as the province has become saturated with hotels and has been facing a substantial number of sales.

Friends of Syria’ group urged withdrawal of Hezbollah militants fighting alongside Syrian army

Foreign ministers of 11 Western and regional member countries (friends of Syria group) that are against Assad announced on Wednesday that they required urgent withdrawal of Hezbollah militants who are supposed to have been fighting in Syria together with Assad forces.

The meeting was held in Amman and the statement said dozens of Iranian-backed Hezbollah militants were reported to have been killed by Syrian rebels while fighting alongside the Syrian army. It was denied by Hezbollah however that fighters were into Syria to help Assad forces.

Business forum to be held betweeen Turkish and Russian businesspeople to improve trade

It was reported by the Association of Black Sea Exporters that A business forum would be held between Turkish and Russian businesspeople on 10-11 June to develop markets in Russia’s North Caucasus region.

The parties involved hope that the forum will contribute to increase the trade volume between the two countries through the Kazbegi-Verhni-Lars border gate, which is supposed to be the newest and shortest link between Turkey and Russia over Georgia. The region in question is estimated to offer some great business opportunities as it has a population of 12 million people with strong consumption habits.

Turkish aviation company Pegasus looking to increase customers via KLM deal

Pegasus Airlines one of the fastest growing aviation companies in the World announced at an Istanbul press conference that it had made a deal with Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM) with the goal to increase its customers by 10 percent.

Güliz Öztürk, senior vice president at Pegasus stated that they expected to receive 35 to 40 new customers daily for their two flights from Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Amsterdam, corresponding to around 10 percent additional customers thanks to said cooperation”.

Fenerbahçe wins Turkish Cup for 2nd consecutive year after 2012

Turkish football club won their sixth Turkish Cup by beating Trabzonspor thanks to goal by its int’l striker Moussa Sow, on May 22nd. The Yellow Canaries were in desperate need of such a triumph after disappointments they had had to face in UEFA and Turkish League Cup. Fenerbahçe had won the same cup last year as well, after 25 years of drought in the competition.

The game was played in Ankara, the capital and TRABZONSPOR, The Black Sea side displayed a bright performance as well to give cupwinners a tough time. The losing site missed many chances throughout the game.

It was the Istanbul side though who found the net when Sow kicked the ball past the goalkeeper making the best of a beautiful pass from Mehmet Topal, in the 9th minute. 

Babacan says Turkish Eximbank to loan Egypt US$250 million for defense purchases

It was declared by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister for economy Ali Babacan on Monday that the Turkish Eximbank would provide a credit line worth of $250 million for the Egyptian government to be used in defense purchases.

The Minister also added they targeted to provide support to the Turkish defense industry for exportation. Babacan also said referred loan was an addition to a previously-agreed sum of $1 billion for the Egyptian government.
