INVESTMENT IN TURKEY 2024

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Turkey surged by 31.5% in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reaching $3.059 billion.

According to the OECD’s global FDI report for the first half of the year, despite challenges, global foreign direct investments continued. During this period, global FDI amounted to $802 billion, with most of the investment flows occurring in the first quarter.

In OECD countries, FDI inflows increased by 80% in the first half of the year. Meanwhile, amidst geopolitical risks and economic policy uncertainties impacting investor confidence, FDI in non-OECD G20 economies decreased by 19%, partly due to a decline in investments in China.

31.5% Increase in the Second Quarter

During this period, the U.S. remained the largest recipient of foreign direct investment worldwide. According to OECD data, Turkey received $1.46 billion in the first quarter and $3.059 billion in the second quarter of this year. This second-quarter FDI in Turkey marks a 31.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

In the first quarter of last year, Turkey attracted $2.65 billion in FDI and $2.32 billion in the second quarter.
