Over 1 Million Visitors to Museums and Ancient Sites During Bayram Holiday
Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, announced that more than 1 million people had visited museums and archaeological sites during the 9-day Ramadan Bayram holiday.
Minister Ersoy shared visitor data for museums and ancient sites during the Bayram holiday on his social media account, revealing that a total of 1,050,215 people had visited these sites.
Ersoy’s post stated: “In 9 days, we surpassed 1 million! The great interest in our museums and archaeological sites during the Bayram holiday is the best indication of the value placed on our cultural heritage.”
A total of 1,050,215 visitors explored museums and ancient sites over the 9-day holiday.
Most Visited Sites: Ephesus and Göbeklitepe
According to data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, during the Ramadan Bayram holiday from March 29 to April 6, the most visited site was the Ephesus Ancient City in Izmir, with 81,264 visitors. It was followed by Göbeklitepe with 71,388 visitors and Hierapolis (Pamukkale) with 64,021 visitors.

- Gaziantep Zeugma Mosaic Museum: 49,067 visitors
- Göreme Open-Air Museum, Nevşehir: 46,780 visitors

- Galata Tower, Istanbul: 27,090 visitors
- Şanlıurfa Archaeological Museum: 25,995 visitors
- Derinkuyu Underground City, Nevşehir: 25,768 visitors
- Silifke Cennet Cehennem Archaeological Site, Mersin: 24,647 visitors
- Cumhuriyet Museum, Ankara: 24,591 visitors
- Ihlara Valley Archaeological Site – Belisırma Entrance, Aksaray: 23,444 visitors
- Istanbul Archaeology Museum: 20,046 visitors
